$300,000 in Queensland multicultural grants up for grabs
Community organisations in the Sandgate and Nudgee electorates can now apply for grants of up to $25,000 under the second round of the Palaszczuk Government’s Celebrating Multicultural Queensland grants program.
Member for Sandgate, Stirling Hinchliffe, said there was a total of $300,000 in projects grant funding up for grabs.
“This program supports projects that celebrate and promote Queensland multiculturalism,” he said.
“The grants are available to local community groups and other organisations for projects that contribute to Queensland’s great multicultural success story.
“Queensland is home to people from more than 220 different countries and we want to ensure that they have the opportunity to engage in all forms of cultural, social and economic activities.”
Member for Nudgee, Leanne Linard, said applications for the grants would close on 3 February 2017, with the grants to be delivered from July 2017.
“In addition to this funding, we have also provided $700,000 for multicultural events via the first round of Celebrating Multicultural Queensland,” she said.
“Applications for the events grants have now closed and we will announce the successful applicants by the end of the year.
“In total, we’re providing $1 million a year to help celebrate Queensland multiculturalism and the State’s rich cultural diversity.”
