$6 million for new Performing Arts Hall at Wavell SHS
Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard has secured $6 million to build a new performing arts hall at Wavell State High School.
Ms Linard said she shared the good news with the school community today.
“The Palaszczuk Government will invest $6 million to build a new performing arts hall at Wavell State High as part of our $200 million Advancing Queensland Schools funding package,” she said.
“The Wavell High community have been calling for a new school hall for many years.
“The school needs a fit-for-purpose venue to support their excellent music and performing arts programs.
“I know how important this facility is to the school, and it has been an absolute pleasure to work hand-in-hand with them to have delivered this for our community.
“I want to congratulate the Principal Jeff Major, the P&C, and the passionate teachers, parents and students of Wavell SHS for their sustained efforts to see this vision become a reality”.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the difference this performance hall makes to education at Wavell State High School.”
Ms Linard said the project was expected to go to tender next month.
“Our government is determined to give every student in every school the best possible education,” she said.
“That means delivering the teachers, curriculum and school facilities we need to give students the best chance at success.
