Seniors Week Subsidies Available Now
Seniors Week is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse contributions of older people in the Nudgee community, and a chance to say thank you for all that they do.
This year, local community organisations are encouraged to apply for State Government subsidies of up to $1000 to run activities and events during Seniors Week 2017.
State Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard said these grants are a great way to help fund local events and for Nudgee organisations to show their appreciation for seniors in the community.
“The wisdom of those who have lived longer than us is invaluable to any community, and Seniors Week is our opportunity to say thank you”, Ms Linard said.
This year, Seniors Week will be held from 19 – 27 August with the theme ‘A Queensland for All Ages’. This theme aligns with the Palaszczuk Government’s vision of building more age-friendly communities, where people of all ages can take part in local activities and enjoy quality of life.
“I urge community groups and organisations to consider holding an event in our local community to help make Seniors Week 2017 a wonderful celebration of our treasured seniors”, Ms Linard said.
