More carparks for Nundah park ‘n’ ride
Commuters at Nundah will find it easier to secure a parking space with the State Government delivering 20 new parks at the Nundah station park ‘n’ ride by mid-next month.
Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard said the improvements would help alleviate commuter parking pressures experienced at the busy station.
“This is great news for our community with the additional spaces at Nundah train station making it easier for commuters to find a carpark,” Ms Linard said.
“Nundah is a vibrant, growing community and I have acted to ensure that our local infrastructure can keep up as we grow.
“I lobbied the Department of Transport and Main Roads on behalf of local commuters to install more carparks to cope with the extra demand.
“The carpark will be reconfigured to provide the extra parks which is a sustainable and cost effective approach which will have the least impact on commuters while work is being done.
“Best of all this project will be delivered quickly, with all the work set to be completed by mid-next month.”
The extra 20 parking bays will be installed in the existing park ‘n’ ride facilities at the station (six in the northern carpark and 14 in the southern carpark) taking the total number of spaces to 243.
It is anticipated that the project will be completed in mid-June 2017, with works planned to start on Friday night 2 June 2017. Work is expected to stop on the morning of Saturday 3 June before resuming on the evening of Sunday 4 June after the markets. Work will follow the same schedule the following weekend.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads staff will distribute flyers in the carpark on the Wednesday and Thursday of each week reminding customers not to leave their cars in the carpark on Friday night when works will start.
