Earnshaw State College Student Council successfully secures $250,000 for C Block upgrade
Earnshaw State School will be receiving a $250,000 funding boost in the 2017/18 State Budget to carry out a much-needed refurbishment of ‘C Block’, including the senior school bathroom facilities.
Minister for Education Kate Jones MP and State Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard visited the school last week to announce the $250,000 upgrade to the facilities in C Block.
Ms Linard said this funding was secured due to strong advocacy by the Earnshaw State College Student Council.
“I met with the Student Council earlier this year where they raised concerns with the condition of C Block” Ms Linard said.
“I was very impressed by their determination to deliver better quality facilities for the rest of the student body, and I was delighted to have been able to secure this funding for the school in this year’s State Budget”.
“The School Council has a great record in turning student ideas into reality, including enacting a timetable change, mobile phone policy and advocating for air conditioning across the School.
Year 11 Ambassador Aisling Smith said the refurbishment will be beneficial for the entire school as well as for future students to come.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to Ms Jones and Ms Linard for their continuous support” Ms Smith said.
