Celebrate who you are during Queensland Multicultural Week
Member for Nudgee, Leanne Linard, is encouraging residents of the Nudgee Electorate to celebrate their vibrant, diverse cultures during Multicultural Week.
“Multicultural Week is Queensland’s largest celebration of multiculturalism and runs from 22 to 30 August,” Ms Linard said.
This year, Queensland Multicultural Week promises to be bigger and better – packed with more events, performances, activities and workshops being held in communities across the state.
As part of the celebrations the Multicultural Development Association will be holding their annual Zillmere Festival Market Day on Saturday 29 August in the cul-de-sac leading to Zillmere Railway Station.
Ms Linard said the event focused on engaging the community to build greater awareness of multiculturalism as well as promoting community harmony.
“Last year’s Market Day was very successful and this year’s will include street stalls, multicultural food, crafts, workshops, children’s activities and fantastic cultural performances on the main stage,” she said.
“I will have a joint stall with Wayne Swan and Cr Victoria Newton on the day, and look forward to seeing lots of locals enjoying our rich cultural diversity,” Ms Linard said.
The Zillmere Festival Market Day runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 29 August. For more information, please visit www.zillmere.eventbrite.com.au
