Funding for Nundah Community Legal Centre secured until 2020
The Palaszuzuk Government has announced the allocation of $312,625 in funding for the Nundah Community Legal Centre to ensure the community has continued access to free legal services.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath MP announced the funding last week, which is part of $4.796 million in total for legal services across Queensland.
State Member for Nudgee, Leanne Linard MP, said that the funding has been allocated to support legal services that assist with family law and family violence, two areas of law where demand for services is rapidly growing.
“The services provided by Nundah Community Legal Centre are vital to vulnerable families in our community and that is why I stood up in Parliament and argued strongly for continued funding for our local centre”, Ms Linard said.
“I congratulate the Nundah Community Legal Centre on their continued funding and thank them for the invaluable support they provide”.
Ms Eleesa Johnstone, President NCSGI said “This funding represents a significant achievement for our community and for women requiring tailored legal support for domestic and family violence issues. As an organisation we are extremely thankful for the opportunity this affords our Service. We are grateful for the support that Leanne has provided in helping the Centre for this and for all our programs”.
