Delivering for Our Community
Since being elected I have worked hard to deliver for our community. Whether it is new infrastructure, or upgrades to existing school, health, road or public transport infrastructure; improved or additional community or public transport services, I advocate strongly on behalf of our community.
Some of the things I have been most proud to deliver for our area include:
Education
- Boondall State School Prep Playground Upgrade – $100,000 ‘nature wonderland’ playground for prep students
- Boondall State School OSHC Service Upgrades – $500,000 to provide additional capacity
- Boondall State School new expanded ‘Stop, Drop and Go’ facility – $790,000 to construct an extended and safer drop off lane as well as more parking
- Earnshaw State College Industrial Fans – $60,000 for new ceiling fans in school hall
- Earnshaw State College Classroom Refurbishment – $250,000 for C Block and toilet refurbishment
- Earnshaw State College Manual Arts Block Refurbishment – $500,000 committed
- Northgate State School Outdoor Learning Area – $100,000 to repurpose outdoor learning area
- Northgate State School new ‘Stop, Drop and Go’ facility – $440,000 for a new, safer Stop, Drop and Go facility and more parking onsite to reduce congestion in local streets
- Nundah State School STEAM Learning Space – Conversion of old dental building into STEAM learning space
- Nundah State School Tuckshop Upgrade – $220,000 to renovate tuckshop
- Nundah State School Industrial Fans – $50,000 for industrial fans in school hall
- Nundah State School ‘Sounds of Nundah’ Studio – $330,000 state of the art Music and Arts facility
- St Pius, Banyo New Classrooms – 4 new buildings including classrooms and a new administration block
- Virginia State School Pool Upgrade – new change rooms and amenities
- Virginia State School Prep Playground – $150,000 for upgrades to the playground
- Wavell State High School Performing Arts Centre – $6 million performing arts centre
- Flashing School Zones for St Pius, Boondall State School, Virginia Station School, Earnshaw State College
- Air Conditioning at Earnshaw State College, Northgate and Virginia State Schools – to ensure that all classrooms across the electorate are air conditioned
Public Transport
- Restored Train Services – Restored 100 weekly train services for Nundah and Toombul Stations. 7.5 min train frequency during peak times
- Banyo Station Parking – 10 additional parking spaces for Banyo Station
- Banyo Railway Station Upgrade – New pedestrian overpass installed in 2017, and Accessibility Makeover commitment for 2021, including lift, CCTV and lighting
- Boondall Station Upgrade – $5.6 million accessibility upgrade, including new footbridge, lift, raised platform, signage and lighting
- Geebung Station Park n Ride – 70 extra parking spaces
- Northgate Station Park n Ride Study – $250,000 planning funds for parking expansion. Community consultation will be commencing in August 2021
- Northgate Police Outpost – new outpost at Northgate Station with 8 Rail Squad Officers
- Nudgee Station Parking – 23 new car parks for station
- Nundah Station Parking – 20 additional car parks for station
- Toombul Station Bike Lockers – 40 space bike enclosure
- Virginia Station Park n Ride – 50 extra parking spaces
- Train horn ‘Klaxon’ noise reduction – near Banyo, Nudgee and Sunshine stations (where level crossings are located immediately adjacent to the station platforms)
- Toombul Bus Interchange and Sandgate Road Intersection Study – for improved passenger connections
Police and Emergency Services
- Banyo Police Beat – new North Brisbane Co-Responder unit made up of Police Officers and Youth Justice workers
- Operation Hendra Reduce – Major boost to policing, with additional 10 Tactical Crime Squad police officers joining Hendra Police Station
- Northgate Police Outpost – new outpost at Northgate Station with 8 Rail Squad Officers
- Geebung Emergency Management Unit and 24 Hour Ambulance Station – $13 million for new facility
Main Roads and Road Safety
- Gateway Upgrade North – $1.143 billion to expand gateway motorway from 4 lanes to 6 between Nudgee and Deagon. Also included off-road bikeway from Nudgee to Northern Suburbs
- Sandgate Road improvements – $2.4 million to signalise the intersection of Northgate Rd approach to Sandgate Road, to signalise intersection of Sandgate Rd and Cameron Street and to make London Street a cul-de-sac
- Toombul Bus Interchange and Sandgate Road Intersection Study – for improved passenger connections
- Flashing School Zones for St Pius, Boondall State School, Virginia Station School, Earnshaw State College
Community and Sporting
- Nundah Neighbourhood Legal Service – $1.5 million secured funding over 5 years to support the most vulnerable in the community
- Virginia Dolphins Swim Club Pool Upgrade – new change rooms and amenities
- Wizards Basketball Facility – new 5 court indoor basketball facility
