The Palasczuk Government’s Boondall station upgrade has marked another milestone, with new lifts coming online last week.
Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard said as part of a $357 million investment across south east stations supporting more than 250 jobs, local commuters and eventgoers could now access Boondall without barriers.
“New lifts will assist everyone in our local community to use Boondall station without barriers, including those who use mobility aids, seniors, people with injuries and those travelling with prams or luggage,” she said.
Ms Linard said crews would turn their attention to final works will include the station entrance and landscaping, as well as new signage and audible hearing loops.
“The new ticket window is also complete and open for use, in addition to a number of improvements for platforms 1 and 2, including raised platforms at the assisted boarding points and new shelter and seating.”
Ms Linard said work had also started on the installation of a new bike enclosure and bicycle racks on Aberdeen Parade, to improve facilities available for residents wishing to cycle to the station.
“Customers will be able to view and book a space in the enclosure via Queensland Rail’s new online booking system once completed.
