Parking boost delivered for Banyo train station commuters
The commute from Banyo train station will soon be easier with Queensland Rail set to increase car parking capacity at the station by approximately 40 per cent following lobbying by State Member for Nudgee, Leanne Linard.
“Locals raised the shortage of parking at the station with me repeatedly and I am pleased to confirm an increase to the number of parking spaces at Banyo,” Ms Linard said.
On average, there are approximately 600 boardings each weekday at Banyo station and many of these people drive to the station before their commute.
“I have no doubt that Banyo customers will welcome today’s announcement, which will improve their weekly commute.”
The additional ten car parking spaces will be built as part of the Banyo train stabling project.
“Detailed design will commence later this month and construction of the new stabling facility, which will include additional car parking at Banyo, is expected to be completed early next year.
The stabling facility is part of the New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) Project which will increase the network’s passenger train capacity by 30 per cent with the introduction of 75 new six-car trains.
