Queensland Rail provides Community Grant funding to 3 Banyo schools
State Member for Nudgee Leanne Linard has been working with Queensland Rail (QR) at Banyo to facilitate funding for 3 local schools as part of QR’s Community Grants Program, which seeks to demonstrate their commitment to the local community.
“When QR mentioned that there were some grants available as part of their construction of the stabling facility project at Banyo, I immediately suggested our local educational facilities as a wonderful way to invest in our local community and leave a lasting legacy”, Ms Linard said.
Representatives of QR Ms Linard, have since been working with Earnshaw State College, St Pius Catholic Primary School and Banyo C&K Kindy to identify local projects.
“It was a pleasure to celebrate the culmination of these discussions with staff and students from the Banyo C&K Kindergarten and QR Community Engagement Officers recently at the Kindy, who have received $5000 for a new shade structure, security intercom and new trees for privacy screening” Ms Linard said.
St Pius Primary School will also receive a $5000 grant for a new shade sail for their Prep area, and Earnshaw State College will receive $5000 as sponsorship of a new education unit that supports engineering and robotics.
“I was so pleased to work with Queensland Rail in facilitating this funding for our local kindy and schools.”
“Queensland Rail has long been a significant stakeholder in the Banyo community owing to their many workshops, facilities, train stations, and the new stabling facility in the local area.”
“It is great to see QR positively contributing to the wellbeing of our community, specifically our young students.”
